Setting up the ScribbleBot tool

The ScribbleBot tool is used in a similar fashion to the pencil tool in order to make a drawing on the stage. It uses all the current stroke settings in order to render the drawing, however when you 'RECORD FRAMES' in the control panel, current stroke settings at that time are used. The tool ultimately winds up on the 'Tools' panel along with standard flash tools such as the 'Pen Tool' and 'Paint Bucket Tool'. After installing the mxp file using the extension manager, the ScribbleBot tool is not automatically placed into the Tools panel however. This is done with a few simple steps in Flash:

Installing the ScribbleBot Tool

  1. Go to Edit > Customize Tools Panel...
  2. From the table of tool icons on the left side of the dialog, select the tool that you would like to have the ScribbleBot tool appear underneath. A good choice is the paint brush (Brush Tool).

WARNING: If you choose to place it under the Pencil tool, there seems to be a bug in Flash that causes the ScribbleBot icon to be corrupted in the Property panel (but the tool still works).
  3. After clicking the icon, scroll to the bottom of 'Available Tools' and select the 'ScribbleBot Tool'.
  4. Click the '>> Add >>' button.
  5. You should now see the ScribbleBot Tool in the list under 'Current Selection'.
  6. Click OK.

The ScribbleBot Tool successfully installed under the Brush Tool.
