Using the ScribbleBot control panel interface

In order to create timeline animations for the drawings you made with the tool, you need to use functions provided in the ScribbleBot control panel. The control panel is a user interface that lets you change settings, record animations to frames, and begin new drawings.

To open the control panel interface, go to Window > Other Panels > ScribbleBot . The panel below appears in Flash:

If you already have drawings defined in the document, the panel will show the active drawing:

If there are drawings defined in the document but they don't appear, press the sync button (the 2 circular arrows) to refresh the panel.

Overview of elements & buttons in the control panel

A description of each of the items in the interface:

- mini-display: Displays the active drawing with which you can create an animation.

- Sync button (2 gray circular arrows): Refreshes the mini-display with the active drawing.

- Right, left arrows under the mini-display: Use the arrows to navigate to the drawing you want to make 'active'.

- delete drawing: Removes data for the active drawing from the document and clears it from the mini-display.

- frame spread radio: When checked, the tool creates an animation with the total number of frames on the timeline specified in the text input box. You can either use 'frame spread' or 'points per frame'.

- points per frame radio: When checked, the tool creates as many frames as necessary on the timeline, where each frame renders the number of points you specify in the box from your drawing.

- fade trail points: When checked, the tool only displays this many points (and lines connecting them) in the animation per frame. An updated set of points is drawn in each subsequent frame in order render the entire drawing from beginning to end.

- jitter drawing: When checked, a jitter effect is applied to all points in the animation. Choose a number between 1 and 10, with 1 being minimal 'jitter' and 10 being max.

- NEW DRAWING button: Allows you to start a new active drawing on the stage. Previous drawngs are saved in the document and can be made active using the arrows beneath the mini-display.

- RECORD FRAMES button: Creates the animation on the timeline from the active drawing based on the current settings.

The timeline after RECORD FRAMES has been applied to a drawing.
